We are very lucky to be able to offer Forest School sessions to all our children.
Children are encouraged to develop their independence and self-care skills as they change into Forest School clothing and wellies. Exciting outdoor activities are planned each week, such as den building, exploring the mud kitchen, nature trails, storytelling and bug hunts. However, the children often come up with their own imaginative ideas that are influenced by what they see and hear in the natural environment.
Children will be accessing forest school once a week, during the school day, as part of the curriculum.
We have full waterproof outfits for every child but make sure to bring your wellies in from home for maximum muddy fun!
Each session begins by reflecting upon previous learning and reinforcing behaviour expectations, boundaries and safety considerations. The sessions are multi-sensory and practical to support and develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding in all areas of learning. The sessions promote the characteristics of effective learning - playing and exploring, active learning, creating and thinking critically - which underpin learning and development. Sessions may focus upon a particular theme but children are equally supported to follow their own open-ended enquiry.
Possible activities include:
Natural treasure hunts
Mini-beast hunts
Natural crafts
Recreating stories
Den building
Mud kitchen
Planting/gardening
