Lunches

We are a healthy school and have achieved a Startwell Award that recognises that the habits children form now, help them grow up to make healthy choices. As part of this, we ask that the food in children’s lunchboxes supports healthy choices.

Lunchboxes must be nut-free due to allergies. This means no nuts, nut-spread (such as peanut butter or chocolate spread),
or other products, such as some cereal bars, containing nuts.

Please note that lunchboxes are refrigerated until lunchtime. We are unable to heat up food.

Labels Labels Labels!

Please clearly label your child’s lunchbox and any other smaller containers within it with their name.

Free School Meals

If your child is entitled to Free School Meals, school can provide a packed lunch for them.  Packed lunches are made fresh each day and usually contain a sandwich, a piece of fruit, raisins, a yogurt, a small treat, and a drink.  Please contact the school office if you would like us to provide a Free School Meal lunch for your child.

Startwell

Birmingham developed Startwell, an evidence based NHS obesity prevention programme based on 8 key messages to help Early Years settings, parents and health professionals create a healthier environment for children and families. Kings Norton Nursery School is part of the Startwell initiative. If you would like further information, please see the Startwell website.
